The highest, largest and, according to employers' assessment, the best in the Czech Republic – the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FME) of Brno University of Technology has earned many firsts during its existence. In 2020, we commemorate the faculty's 120th anniversary by a series of events for students, employees, graduates as well as company representatives. Celebrate your alma mater birthday with us!

Launch of the new faculty website in English
Launching the new version of the FME website in English will enable foreign students as well as business partners to find the most important information about studies at FME, cooperation with the faculty and the most important events.
Newsletter FME News
FME News will be distributed via e-mail three times a year. It will offer our alumni a summary of interesting past events and invitations to upcoming events. The newsletter will be distributed in January, April and September.
Opening of the Faculty Store
With the beginning of the summer semester, we are preparing to open the Faculty store "Strojobchod" where students, alumni and employees can buy faculty T-shirts, socks, wooden bow ties or university sweatshirts. Suit up in FME style!
Student Ball13. 2. 2020
The Ball organized by The Student Chamber of the Academic Senate, FME (aka SKAS) is primarily for students, but it´s open also for employees and alumni of the faculty. It will be held at KC Babylon and you can look forward to the band EREMY, DJ Schafff and accompanying program like a photo corner and refreshments.
Lecture Series: Generation of the FME
Lectures of interesting people connected with FME are open to students, employees and alumni. One of the speakers will be the first team leader of the TU Brno Racing team Milan Poláček, who currently works as a rally engineer in the WRC, namely in the team of the multiple world champion in the rally Sébastien Ogier.
Career Fair5. 3. 2020
The Career Fair at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, BUT, offers a unique opportunity to approach students directly at the faculty. Engineering companies can present themselves and talk to students about possibilities to cooperate in terms of final theses, internships, placements, trainee programmes, part-time jobs, or a future career.

The Faculty Ball is the most important social event of the FME. In the main hall of the Hotel International Brno, you can dance to swing music played by Ondřej Havelka and his Melody Makers, in the second hall you can sing along with the folk band Grajcar with a glass of wine I your hand. Fans of modern genres will enjoy the repertoire of the band SpacierGang. The program will be enriched with a fashion show vintage dresses and hats to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the faculty, and all visitors can take a picture in a retro photo corner.

Sports Day is a traditional university-wide event. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering offers a hiking tour for employees and students, at the end of which a small refreshment awaits each participant.

Celebrate Children's Day with us, remember your student years and see where and how engineering courses are taught today. On the 120th anniversary of the foundation of the FME, we organize a festival for students, graduates and employees of FME BUT and for their families.
The festival will take place at the FME at the Palacký Hill (Technická 2, Brno). You will have a chance to join in tours to the faculty laboratories and see accompanying exhibitions (11:00 am – 3:00 pm). From 3:00 pm the main program starts in the outdoor area – children can enjoy fun competitions related to the world of technology, bouncy castles or face painting, adults will enjoy the concerts of student and employee bands. Last not least, there will be plenty of great snacks and drinks at the event. Save the date!

On the 120th anniversary of its establishing, FME will host the ceremonial Golden Graduations of the BUT. The academic ceremony 50 years after graduation is for graduates of three oldest BUT faculties – Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication. The graduates will get a chance to the reunion, commemorate the graduation ceremony and receive a commemorative diploma. Those interested in participating in the Golden Graduations after 50 years can apply at: absolventi@vutbr.cz.
Tree-planting ceremony and exhibition opening
At the beginning of the academic year 2020/2021, a linden tree will be planted on the FME campus, commemorating the 120th anniversary of the foundation of the Faculty. Come and join us for the toast so that the linden tree and FME grow successfully in the future. At the same time, you will find a thematic exhibition in the A5 building, summarizing the most important milestones in the history of our faculty. The exhibition will be opened until the end of the year.

The academic meeting on the 120th anniversary of the faculty. The Dean of the FME will award important employees and partners of the faculty. The ceremony will be followed by a theatre play.
Movember1. 11. 2020 – 30. 11. 2020
For the fourth time, engineers from FME will join the worldwide charity event Movember. The campaign aims to raise awareness of men's health issues, such as prostate cancer or testicular cancer. The symbol of the event is a moustache, which the engineers let grow for a month. It also includes the collection of funds that are used e.g. to purchase equipment for hospitals. Brno engineers wear their moustaches with pride – join us!

Who will be the fastest to run up the stairs of our eighteen-storey building A1? May we look forward to the new record? A sports race in the high-rise building A1 will not be missing from the programme this year. Come and join the race as an individual or a member of a relay team. The event is open to students, employees, alumni as well as business partners.

Come to visit our next Open Day. It´s not just a presentation of study opportunities for those considering studies at FME. The event is also open to our alumni who want to glimpse into the laboratories and find out what topics the researchers and institutes are working on.
