The winter semester of the academic year 2021–22 will start according to the schedule on Monday, September 20, 2021. Teaching will take place in a standard form, i.e. mostly in person, but with certain restrictions, which include, for example, a limit on the number of students in teaching or stricter hygiene measures.
The measures at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at BUT follow on from currently valid governmental or hygienic regulations as well as measures at BUT (Rector's Decision No. 16/2021).
Teaching in the winter semester will be organized as standard in person, but with an extension to the online space. The online extension applies to all lectures that are intended for a larger number of students. Only a limited number of students will be able to attend the lectures, the others will have a live stream available and the recording will always be available for at least 12 hours.
Detail information
LECTURES
Teaching in hall Q will not take place due to the reconstruction, teaching in larger lecture rooms (P1, P2, P3) will be limited to 150 students, in smaller lecture rooms (P4, P5, P6) to 90 students.
Some lectures that exceed the set limit will require a reservation. Only students who have successfully made a reservation will be able to attend the lectures. The reservation will be made similarly to the registration for the date of the exams, i.e. in the Studis information system in the Registration of dates tab, where the student registers for the date (type of a consultation), or in the electronic index tab after clicking on the subject name.
Registration for consultation-type dates will start on September 17. Students will be notified of this possibility in Studis in the Schedule. The registration for the date of a specific lecture will always end 60 minutes before the start of the lecture or when the capacity is exhausted. Immediately after the end of the lecture, it will be possible to book a follow-up lecture.
The specific list of subjects for which it will be necessary to register: 1IN, 1K, 1KD, 1M, 1PA, 1SI, 2VT, 3ST, 3SV, 4PP, 5DT, 5KS, 5PP, 5TE, 6SR, 6TT, CS1, QLV, RIV, 0KM, 0KD, 0ZK, 0FK, 5HY. Students will also find information in Studis.
A stream will be available for students who have failed to register for the lecture or for some other reason do not attend the lecture. As in the previous academic year, all lectures that will take place in lecture rooms P1 – P6 will be streamed, not just large-capacity ones.
Streams from all lecture rooms P1 – P6 will be accessible at the address that is published here (the page will be displayed after logging in with BUT login and BUT password). The lecture will be broadcast live and the recording will be available for 12 hours. Records from some lectures will be published long-term or permanently, but here it depends on the decision of each teacher.
TUTORIALS
Tutorials will be organized in a standard form. An electronic apology system was newly introduced. The apology must be entered in the Studis, which will make it available to the teacher of the subject and to the assistants from the Study Department. (More information you can find here.)
Important! The teacher can demand compensation for absence from compulsory education.
OTHER ANTI-EPIDEMIOLOGICAL MEASURES
-
It is forbidden to enter the FME and BUT buildings by persons who have symptoms of viral disease (e.g. fever, cough, shortness of breath, sudden loss of taste and smell, etc.). And it's not just about covid-19, but any bad cold or another infectious disease.
-
Students are obliged to electronically confirm the declaration on honour in the information system that they do not have these symptoms daily before entering the FME buildings. In the event that the student has already suffered from the disease, he/she declares that he/she has been without symptoms of the disease for at least 3 days and that his/her isolation according to valid regulations ended before today.
-
If a student has ordered quarantine or isolation in connection with covid-19, he/she will immediately enter an apology in Studis in the Electronic Apologies tab.
-
Students are obliged to wear a respiratory protective device (nose, mouth), throughout their presence in the internal common areas (buildings) of the FSI campus, which is a respirator or similar device (always without an exhalation valve) meeting at least all technical conditions and requirements (for a product), including a filtration efficiency of at least 94% according to relevant standards (e.g. FFP2, KN 95). The obligation to protect the airways does not apply to students in education who sit on a bench or are otherwise seated.
-
When entering FSI buildings and after using the toilets, please use the hand disinfection available here. Non-contact disinfection dispensers are located in a number of places.
-
The Covid traffic light is not currently required. Therefore, students do not have to prove their covid passport or test.
However, we strongly appeal to all students and ask them to consider the possibility of vaccination or continuous voluntary testing to attend classes! Thank you. (The citizens with health insurance in the Czech Republic, or with registration with a health insurance company in the Czech Republic, still have the option of paying for a test from general health insurance – free antigen test once every 7 days, PCR test twice a month.)
STUDENTS IN THEIR FIRST YEAR OF THE BACHELOR'S STUDY
Matriculation will not take place, but on Friday, September 17, 2021, from 10:00 there will be an online Information Hour for students of the 1st year of bachelor's study, where they will learn information about the organization of teaching. The stream will be live and after the end of the Information Hour we will make the recording public. During the Information Hour, it will be possible to enter questions about the organization of teaching in the form of a chat. Link you can find here. (the page will be displayed after logging in with BUT login and BUT password). Information Hour will be in Czech.
