In recent weeks, the "Autumn International Engineering Weeks 2021" (IEPW-Autumn 2021) took place at the Institute of Process Engineering (IPE). This was the third specialized event within the long-term international activity "International Engineering Project Weeks" (IEPW) in cooperation with IPE FME BUT and the Faculty of Mechanical and Process Engineering Augsburg University of Applied Sciences (FMPE AUAS), Germany.
The aim of the IEPW is to contribute to the intensification of joint research and education of students, doctoral students, young engineers, teachers and industrial experts in the field of process engineering through specialized several-week intensive meetings in solving a specific research and engineering project.
The IEPW-Autumn 2021 event ran from 30 August to 24 September and focused on energy use and the reduction of emissions from the combustion of solid and gaseous fuels. As part of the research and engineering project, the participants of IEPW-Autumn 2021 completed a number of professional trainings at ÚPI, carried out laboratory analyzes of fuels, participated in fuel combustion tests and analysis of produced emissions, and participated in a number of accompanying industrial excursions. Four students of AUAS (Alexandra Schmid, Alexander Sechser, Ahmad Bin Husni Mohd Sham, Christian Zehendner) which took part in the event who at the very end of the event on 24 September 2021 defended their project activities before an international implementation team.
All participants evaluate this several-week intensive engineering meeting as very successful and beneficial, which met the set goals of the project topic. The next IEPW event is already planned for the first half of the following calendar year, when the intention is to hold "Spring International Engineering Project Weeks 2022" at IPE, for other interested students and doctoral students of both partner universities.
