Since February 1, a new team headed by Dean Jiří Hlinka will take over the leadership of FME. The new dean was elected by the academic senate of the faculty last autumn, and his term of office runs since February 2022 to the end of January 2026. Familiar faces should remain in the FME leadership, but new ones will be added.
Jiří Hlinka has worked in the leadership of the faculty since 2014 as the Vice-dean for External Affairs and Cooperation with Industry, and from today he takes over the position of the Dean. On the contrary, the current Dean Jaroslav Katolický should hold the position of the Vice-Dean in the new leadership team, he would be in charge of science and research as well as intellectual property. Ivan Křupka and Josef Bednář plan to continue the work of the Vice-deans, while Vítězslav Máša from the Institute of Process Engineering will be a completely new face in the team. The vice-deans must still be officially appointed by the Dean of the faculty.
The planned team of vice-deans:
-
Candidate for Vice-Dean for External Affairs, Habilitation and Appointment Procedure – prof. Ing. Ivan Křupka, Ph.D.
-
Candidate for Vice-Dean for R&D and Faculty Development, Intellectual Property and Doctoral Studies – doc. Ing. Jaroslav Katolický, Ph.D.
-
Candidate for Vice-Dean for Bachelor's Studies, Admission Procedure, Timetables, Publishing Activities – Ing. Josef Bednar, Ph.D.
-
Candidate for Vice-Dean for Master's Studies, International Studies, Scholarships and Fees, Lifelong Learning, Final Thesis and Final Examination – doc. Ing. Vítězslav Máša, Ph.D.
We would like to bring you a greeting from the new Dean at the beginning of his term of office:
Dear colleagues and students,
Let me, on behalf of the new Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, wish you to experience much success and many happy moments connected with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Brno University of Technology in the following period. Although difficult times and difficult decisions can often await us, I ask you to understand, support and respect the situation. I believe that some of the restrictions that now bind us (at least the pandemic ones) will gradually subside. Others, such as the economic or bureaucratic ones, will show greater inertia, which will have to be fought together.
At the same time, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the leaving Dean Katolický for leading the faculty in the past period. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is entering a new era as a large and strong faculty. Let's do everything together to further improve its position!
Jiří Hlinka
