Sandris Ručevskis and Martins Vilnitis from the Technical University of Riga visited the Brno University of Technology these days. The Latvian university has already established cooperation with the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Brno University of Technology, whose representatives also took their guests to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. And for good reason – the local university has construction and engineering disciplines under one faculty.
After an introductory presentation of FME, the guests headed for a tour of the laboratories, interested in the Netme Centre in particular. They were welcomed by representatives of the Institute of Design and the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering. The first stop was the 3D printing laboratories, where guests were guided by researcher David Škaroupka, who is also working in the field at the BUT spin-off company 3Deposition.
The Netme Center building was followed by the Selective Laser Melting lab, where Ondřej Červinek presented the technology and research there. The last stop was the Cold Spray Laboratory at the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering, where Lukáš Řehořek gave a presentation.
Riga Technical University (Rīgas Tehniskā universitāte) is the oldest technical university in the Baltics, founded in 1862.
