Work on technology challenges, collaborate with experts from ABB and SmartView and experience intense late-night brainstorming sessions on code – this was the opportunity for participants of the RoboVision Hackathon 2025. This 24-hour competition focused on robotics and machine vision took place on 13-14 March at ABB Mošnov.
Among the six teams that took part in the hackathon were also two teams from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, consisting of students from the Institute of Automation and Computer Science and the Institute of Mathematics.
During the hackathon, the teams worked on designing machine vision systems and programming robotic manipulators. Students were able to apply their knowledge of programming robots, selecting instrumentation for image acquisition with highlighted areas of interest, and image processing to extract the desired information. The key challenge was to combine these two worlds – machine vision and robotics – into a workable solution.
Both of our teams performed well and deserve a lot of credit. The team of Petr Lisník, Šimon Staňo and Jakub Hadaš took third place. The team consisting of Ladislav Řezáč, Adela Ondrouchová and Tereza Pálková finished fourth.
Congratulations to our students for successful representation of the Faculty! Thanks to Smart View s.r.o for the great idea, ABB Mošnov and KEYENCE for supporting this inspiring event. We are looking forward to the next year!
