Course detail
Modelling and Simulation of Production Systems
FSI-GMV Acad. year: 2018/2019 Summer semester
The aim of the course is to provide students with the practical knowledge in the field of modern methods for the simulation and modelling of production systems in kontext of Industry 4.0. It focuses primarily on technological processes and manufacturing systems and applies the principles of discrete simulation for their modelling. The application of simulation methods to designing and controlling discrete systems and processes is analysed, in the field of a strategic planning and operational control. Modern simulation software products are used in the lessons.

Learning outcomes of the course unit
Practice experiences and knowledge in the field of Planning, Scheduling and Simulation are obtained from students. Students are able to build simulation model and using this one to solve various planning and design problems using modern interactive simulation tools.
Prerequisites
Discrete Distribution, Continuous Distribution, Empirical Distribution. Random Number Generation, Random Number Streams. Random Variable Generation: Exponential Distribution, Uniform Distribution, Weibull Distribution, Triangular Distribution, Poison Distribution, Gamma Distribution. MS SQL Server, MS Access, SQL. Theory of Production Systems.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Exercises are focused on practical topics presented in lectures.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
Credit requirements: Participation in the exercises and the elaboration of semester work are required.
Examination: Combined – the examination consists of an oral and written part.
Aims
· To explain the principles of computer simulation of discrete systems.
· To describe SW and HW required
· To prepare simulation model of production and to analyze the outputs
· To integrate the simulation system into a CIM structure of production systems
Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
Lessons are completed according to the FSI schedule. Missed lessons can be individually compensated, if necessary.
