Arts and Crafts
FSI-YDU Acad. year: 2018/2019 Summer semester
The subject familiarizes students with basic terms: a human and art, human and environment, the human from fyziologic and psychologic aspects, a human and applied arts, arts and crafts and design. On assignments students solve the position of a human in and beyond the work field and propose optimal conditions for his/her activity applying aesthetics through drawing and model both classical and computer techniques.
The course has been upgraded with the support of the OPVK project. "The Studio digital sculpture and new media project", reg. No. CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0278, is co-financed by the European Social Fund and the state budget of the Czech Republic.

Learning outcomes of the course unit
Basic information about applied art, fields and materials of arts and crafts. Practical skill of designing projects from concerned field.
Prerequisites
The completion of the course Typology of Design and Fundamentals of Design is required.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Teaching is suplemented by creative work in workshops and by excursions.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
Graded course-unit credit requirements: meeting assigned projects deadlines in a sufficient quality, passing the final test (optional). The test verifies global orientation and knowledge of the development and theory of industrial design and crafts.
Resulting evaluation consists of evaluations on tasks and a test. In total it will be possible to aquire 100 points. Resulting classification will be defined by the ECTS scale.
If some of the projects as well as the test are awarded less than half of the maximum pts., final evaluation of the course is F "failed".
According to the article No. 13 of Study and Examination Rules of Brno University of Technology ECTS evaluation degree scale is used. . If some of the projects are awarded less than 50 pts., final evaluation of the course is "failed". The course is evaluated with the following grades: ECTS EVALUATION DEGREES / PTS. RATING / NUMERIC RATING: A / 100 – 90 / 1 / Excellent; B /89 – 80 / 1,5 / Very good; C / 79 – 70 / 2 / Good; D / 69 – 60 / Satisfactory; E / 59 – 50 / Sufficient; F / 49 – 0 / 4 / Failed.
Aims
The aim of this subject is to famliarize students with both terms and relationships in visual art, design, applied arts, and arts and crafts. Assigned projects prepare students for industrial design workshops.
Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
Recommended attendance at lectures, compulsory attendance at seminars. Education runs according to the week schedule. The way of compensation of missed seminars is specified by the tutor.
