Course detail
Practical Energetics
FSI-0PE Acad. year: 2018/2019 Winter semester
In frame of this course, students will visit significant energy plants – power plants, energy production facilities, etc. The students will obtain insight into current developments in the field of energy by demonstrative teaching in industrial companies supplemented by laboratory experiments carried out in labs of EU-OEI. In frame of this course, we plan to visit: Heating Plant Brno, Power plant Hodonin, Siemens, Gas compressor stations and underground natural gas storage Breclav MD, Nuclear power plant Dukovany, Pumped hydroelectric power Dalešice, substation Sokolnice, Technical Museum with expert guided tour.

Learning outcomes of the course unit
Students will gain basic insights into Czech energy, learn about the specific operations, practise the basic physics in practice.
Prerequisites
knowledge of physics
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is taught through exercises which are focused on practical topics presented in lectures.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
The course is finished by the credit obtaining. For the credit it is necessary to attend on classes and carried out reports from realized experiments.
Aims
The aim of the course is to introduce energy industry companies and familiarized with the real conditions in the Czech energy sector. In this course, students will be familiar with the basic experimental analysis and measurement of fuels parameters ant the boiler characteristic. Realized excursions and experimental measurements will improve general overview of students on field of energy industry sector and power generation.
Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
Up to 2 absences at exercises, reports from realized experiments.
