Operation and Water Treatment

FSI-LPV Acad. year: 2019/2020 Summer semester

One of the final courses of the study is concerned with the principles of the operation and defect of the thermal and nuclear power plants, theoretical and applied chemistry, i.e. chemical modification of water for the pressure parts of steam boilers. This course requires basic knowledge in the field of the design and construction of thermal cycle components.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The knowledge and skills acquired in this course are necessary for managing operations of power generation devices and control regimes in classical, nuclear and industry power engineering.

Prerequisites

Thermo mechanics, heat and mass transfer, basics of chemistry.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Exercises are performed in the form of excursions in energy headquarters and production plants.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Credit: Participation in field trips conducted in the framework of the course and subsequent test
Test: successful completion of a test score of electricity and chemistry basics
operation. Max. score 100, minimum number of test: 50

Aims

The course objective is to make students familiar with operation conditions of energy devices in classical energy units, starting and shut down, application of reliability theories and conception of reliability information systems and maintenance systems. The basics of the theory of energy chemistry, water treating and operation control of chemical regimes ion power engineering will be introduced to them.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance at seminars is required. Compensation of missed seminars to be consulted with a teacher.
