Introduction to Informatics in Production
FSI-GZI Acad. year: 2019/2020 Winter semester
Learning outcomes and competences: Students will acquire information and knowledge about programming systems for creating application programs for production systems. Emphasis is placed on the object-oriented approach and this is shown on the discussed examples of the program systems – Wonderware InTouch, Wonderware Application Server and Microsoft SQL Server as a database system in line with the principles of Industry 4.0.

Learning outcomes of the course unit
Students will learn how to work with object-oriented Wonderware InTouch, Wonderware Application Server and SQL software systems that make it relatively simple to create visualization and supervising applications for different types of manufacturing systems.
Prerequisites
Students are expected to be familiar with the database query language SQL as well. Basic knowledge of database and information systems is also expected.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Teaching is suplemented by practical laboratory work.
According to the possibility of teaching can be organized lectures for students by practitioners and excursions to companies focused on activities related to the course content.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
Course-unit credit is conditional on the following: Participation in practicals and working out of semester work. Examination: The exam has a written and an oral part. Final grade reflects student’s knowledge acquired in the course and his/her ability to apply this knowledge to the practical problems solution.
Aims
Students will learn how to work with object-oriented Wonderware InTouch, Wonderware Application Server and SQL software systems that make it relatively simple to create visualization and supervising applications for different types of manufacturing systems.
Learning outcomes of the course unit Students will learn to use object-oriented programming systems for visualization and supervising control / human-machine interface and applications for advanced management and analysis of manufacturing operations in the category Production and Performance Management. Students will also learn about the use of SQL databases.
Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to acquaint the students with the current situation in the field of computer support of production systems. Attention is paid to the creation of control and visualization programs for production systems.
Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
Attendance at obligatory lessons is checked and only substantial reasons of absence are accepted. Missed lessons can be substituted for via solution of extra exercises.

1. Lectures contents – systems, information and information systems.
2. Keywords definition – quantity of information, transfer of information, codes and coding.
3. HMI (Human-Machine Interface) visualization and supervision applications (visualization and supervision / human-machine interface).
4. Supervision and visualization applications of the SCADA type (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition).
5. Advanced Management and Analysis of Production Operations in Production and Performance Management, MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems).
6. Data collection from control systems (PLC, DCS, I / O etc.).
7. Data and their processing – database systems, their architecture and types.
8. Relation databases.
9-11. Database language SQL.
12. Computer networks – basic keywords and terminology.
13. Internet and its basic services.

Syllabus
1-3. Working with the Wonderware Application Server. Create a sample application of the manufacturing system.
4-6. Working with Wonderware InTouch. Creating a SCADA application in conjunction with a created model in Wonderware Application Server.
7. Database MS Access – basic properties, fundamentals of programming.
8. Work with Microsoft SQL Server, create and manage databases, data manipulation commands (SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE).
9. Working with Microsoft SQL Server – structure definition commands (CREATE, ALTER, DROP), transaction control commands (START TRANSACTION, COMMIT, ROLLBACK), filtering and sorting commands.
10-12. Work on the semester project.
13. Presentation of the semester project and evaluation of exercises.
