Learning outcomes of the course unit
Obtaining skills and a practical knowledge of basic operations that are used in the chemical laboratory.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of secondary school chemistry and basic mathematics.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is taught through practical laboratory work.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
The laboratory notebook (control of preparation), report sheets, course-unit credit test.
Aims
The goal is to provide students with an overview of basic safety rules work in the chemical laboratory, to acquaint students with basic tasks, teach students to work independently in a chemical laboratory with hazardous substances.
Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
The presence of students at practice is obligatory and is monitored by a tutor. The way how to compensate missed practice lessons will be decided by a tutor depending on the range and content of the missed lessons.
