Learning outcomes of the course unit
The student of the fundamentals of mechanical engineering program will gain a comprehensive idea of what mechanical engineering is and what sub-disciplines it is divided into. Based on this, he will better understand the importance of other theoretical basis subjects.
Prerequisites
Interest in the mechanical engineering.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is taught in the form of lectures, which have the character of basic principles of mechanical engineering.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
Elaborate an essay on a specific product, machine, product or technology resulting from mechanical engineering. The professional and stylistic quality of the essay and the resources used are evaluated. The choice of topic should reflect the student's future professional interests. The evaluation may include a test of the lectured material.
Aims
The aim is to understand the essence of the work of mechanical engineer and to realize his professional responsibility. Understanding the process of developing new products or processes typical of mechanical engineering, such as machines, apparatus, equipment and technological processes.
Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
Controlled participation in lessons: The form of substitution of missed lessons for serious reasons is solved by teaching assignments from elearning.
