Course detail
Digital Drawing
FSI-YKD Acad. year: 2020/2021 Summer semester
The subject is focused on digital drawing of existing and proposed objects. The work ranges from elementary sketches capturing the basic geometry of simple objects to a complex representation of more complex objects including their details, shading and surface structure.

Learning outcomes of the course unit
Digital drawing is one of the techniques used in the design process. Partially replaces traditional drawing techniques (pencil, fix, etc.). In early design phases, it is used to create variant sketches, then as a basis for creating a 3D model and, in some cases, for a full design presentation. The acquisition of digital artwork enhances the designer's abilities and skills as well as qualitatively enhances outputs at all stages of industrial design development.
Prerequisites
Prerequisite is the knowledge of perspective and experience with drawing with traditional techniques. The advantage is the basic knowledge of work in applications for creating and editing raster graphics.
Completion of the subject: Drawing of Composition YKS.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is taught through exercises in computer labs, which are focused on practical substance.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
Graded course-unit credit requirements: attendance in lessons, meeting assigned projects deadlines, practical test verifying the knowledge of work with the software and creative work ability. Resulting evaluation consists of evaluations on projects, tasks and a test. In total it will be possible to aquire 100 points. Resulting classification will be defined by the ECTS scale. If some of the projects and test are awarded less than half of the maximum pts., final evaluation of the course is "failed". According to the article No. 13 of Study and Examination Rules of Brno University of Technology ECTS evaluation degree scale is used. . If some of the projects are awarded less than 50 pts., final evaluation of the course is "failed". The course is evaluated with the following grades: ECTS EVALUATION DEGREES / PTS. RATING / NUMERIC RATING: A / 100 – 90 / 1 / Excellent; B /89 – 80 / 1,5 / Very good; C / 79 – 70 / 2 / Good; D / 69 – 60 / Satisfactory; E / 59 – 50 / Sufficient; F / 49 – 0 / 4 / Failed.
Aims
The aim of the course is to develop the ability to capture industrial design objects using digital artwork techniques. The course is aimed mainly at mastering the drawing of own inventive designs and studies. A digital artwork based on an individual approach to the subject aims to significantly enhance the creative potential of an industrial designer. The goal is to achieve a level of expression that allows you to quickly and efficiently view your own designs for further processing with 2D and 3D programs.
Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
Compulsory attendance at seminars. Education runs according to the week schedule. The way of compensation of missed seminars is specified by the tutor.
