Master Thesis Project - Results and Discusion
FSI-ZD5 Acad. year: 2021/2022 Summer semester
The course provides guidance of students during preparation of the text part and the outputs of the thesis. Exercises are focused on familiarization with the course of the final state examination, with the requirements for knowledge and with the principles and instructions for the elaboration and defense of the diploma thesis. Students report on the results they have achieved while working on their diploma projects. During the semester, all students take turns in presentations and receive critical feedback on the presented results from the supervisor and other teachers.

Prerequisites
Knowledge acquired during the bachelor's and master's studies, which is relevant to the selected topic of the diploma thesis.
</br>- Completion of subjects: Diploma project – concept, Diploma project – literature and goals, Diploma project – methods and results.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Supervision of diploma theses, exercises, laboratories, self-study.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
Presentation of achieved results in exercises.
Active work on the diploma project, which will be confirmed by the supervisor.
Submission of the complete text part of the diploma thesis.
Submission of documentation of the completed output of the diploma thesis in digital form to the designated portal.
Aims
Graduates will be able to discuss the results, formulate conclusions and present and defend the achieved results.
Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
Progress in processing of the thessis and outputs as well as work in laboratories is controlled by supervisor of diploma thesis. Attendance at seminars is mandatory and controlled.

Syllabus
Depending on the topic of the diploma thesis, the student usually performs research, development or creative work in one of the following laboratories:
- Student workshop.
- Laboratory of tribology.
- Laboratory of technical diagnostics.
- Laboratory of robotic machining.
- Selective Laser Melting Laboratory.
- Production workshop.
- Studios of the Department of Industrial Design.
- 3D printing cluster.
- StrojLab.
Supervision of Master’s thesis

Syllabus
– Areas of study are individual, given by the supervisor of the diploma thesis.
- Consultation and control of the student's individual work with a focus on the detailed elaboration of the following chapters according to the type of work: results / design, discussion, conclusion.
- Consultation and control of the level of the diploma output, according to the type defined by the assignment: article in proceedings or scientific journal, utility model, industrial model, prototype, functional sample.

Syllabus
– The course of the state exam, areas of questions, structure and principles of presentation for the diploma thesis defence.
- Preparation of the text part of the diploma thesis – discussion of results, formulation of conclusions, formal and graphic design of outputs, essentials of drawing documentation.
- Preparation of a scientific article, structure, formatting, content of individual chapters.
- Verbal and nonverbal communication during the presentation. Voice preparation and public speaking. Analysis of the most common errors in speech.
- Types of presentations and their specifics. Methodology of presentation of results of scientific activity. Determining the goal of the presentation. Planning and designing the presentation.
- Ethics and social etiquette. How to keep the audience's attention. Tips for the right presentation. Focus on the target group.
- Students present partial results of the diploma thesis to colleagues and teachers of the diploma thesis. Immediately after, the presented presentation and the achieved results are commented by the teachers and the supervisor, followed by a discussion, answers to the questions of the supervisor and the other teachers.
