Functional Safety

The basic content of the course is a review of requirements and methods of solution of functional safety in various branches of industry.

Entry knowledge

Knowledge of mathematics and management of quality and reliability in the extent of previous studies at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is expected.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

Requirements for course-unit credit award: active participation in lectures and seminars, semestral work elaboration, test; in justified cases, the lecturer may set alternative requirements.
Seminars are compulsory, attendance is monitored. In justified cases alternative form of tuition, solution of individual semestral project.

Aims

The aim of the course is to introduce the students to the requirements on functional safety of different types of products and the methods of achieving it.
The course allows the students to take up on the knowledge obtained in previous studies in the field of risk management and reliability and to broaden it with the given fields.

7. Practical realization of safety requirements.
8. Verification of functional safety.
9. Methods of software development for functional safety (V-model).
10. Advanced methods of software development for functional safety.
11. Integrated development of safe products.
12. Life cycle of a safe product.
13. Special cases of functional safety solutions.
