Course detail
Basics of Process Equipment Modelling in 3D
FSI-K3D-A Acad. year: 2024/2025 Summer semester
The course is devoted to master modeling in software SolidWorks and CADWorx with emphasis on practicality. Mastering of these tools is nowadays common demand on master students of technical universities. The great importance of 3D models is also their subsequent use for numerical simulation (FEM). One of the very important abilities is also visualization of 3D models which is currently common practice even with direct impact on company economy.

Entry knowledge
Basic knowledge of PC and technical drawings.
Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
Seminars will be graded with regard to active attendance in seminars as well as accomplishment of partial tests and final test.
Attendance at seminars will be checked and absences will be compensated by self-study of the missed topic.
Aims
The main task of the course is to provide students with ability to model in 3D independently and effectively. The lectures are performed in SolidWorks software. During the course, students will acquire the knowledge to use wide range of the software´s contained functions. In addition to mastering this software, students will also acquire the basics of 3D modeling which is applicable with others 3D modelers, too. Mastering 3D modeling increases the price of the students on the current job market and yet, they will be more competitive in applying for a job.
By the end of the course, attendants should achieve level that is necessary to accomplish certification CSWA (Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate). Students should prepare themselves appropriately for the exam where the ability to create either simple or advanced 3D models and assemblies, as well the ability to create technical drawings will be examined. The output knowledge will include animation and visualization techniques. Last but not least is also the ability to perform FEM (finite element method) analysis in the related module.
