Course detail

Manufacturing Technology I

FSI-2VT Acad. year: 2024/2025 Winter semester

The course familiarizes students with the fundamentals of engineering technology and enables them to test practically individually selected operations.
1. Technology of presswork of sheet metal with practical application of operations of shearing, punching and bending on given components.
2. Technology of bulk forming with a view to free forging of material under heat using the operations of hot drawing, flattening and bending on given components.
3. Technology of gas welding, inclusive of mastering the fundamentals and manipulation with welding torch.
4. Technology of casting oriented to the fabrication of elementary mould and complicated mould with complicated parting plane.

Entry knowledge

Knowledge of technological courses of the 1st year of study.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

The course-unit credits award is based on attendance at seminars, correct elaboration and active student participation in its processing.
The final exam will be composed of written and oral part. It is classificated to the ECTS grading scale.

The missed lessons will be compensated in another groups´ lessons based on the agreement with a competent teacher.
Attendance in exercises is compulsory.
The attendance to the seminar is regularly checked and the participation in the lesson is recorded.

Aims

The subject Production Technology I would enable the students to try practice some operations of single technologies on the base of which they would continue theoretical knowlege during theier next bachelor of general type of study.

Students are acquainted with presented technologies and they acquire manual skills when doing single operations, which they use during their further studies when preparing experiments.
