Course detail
Fundamentals of Art Creation
FSI-YZT Acad. year: 2025/2026 Winter semester
The course leads students to the basic theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to master drawing. Attention is paid to drawing geometric objects and products in perspective view according to the model. The work proceeds from the elementary sketch depicting the basic structure to the final representation of the model. The practiced method of correct recording of reality is the reduction of the source object into basic geometric figures, taking into account the principles of perspective representation.

Entry knowledge
Basic theoretical and practical knowledge of perspective view and drawing experience from non-art high school.
Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
Conditions for obtaining classified credit:
- attendance in the exercises (min 5 out of 10 points),
- handing in the assignments by the deadlines (min 45 out of 90 points).
The final classification is determined according to the ECTS scale.
Exercises: attendance is compulsory and supervised by the teacher. A maximum of two absences is allowed. In the event of prolonged absence, the course tutor is responsible for making up missed classes.
Aims
Students will improve their drawing technique by recording real objects. They will be capable of both realistic and schematic visual recording based on perspective view and proportionally correct representation of the model.
The student acquires:
- Knowledge of the principles of perspective representation.
- The ability to make an elementary sketch depicting basic structure by reducing a source object to basic geometric shapes.
- Ability to draw linearly according to a model defining the outline of a body or product, compositions of geometric solids and objects corresponding to them in shape.
- Ability to record realistically, including inherent and cast shadows representing the volume and shape of each part of the composition.
- Ability to sketch as a method of quickly expressing an idea.
