English in Aviation I

English in Aviation makes the students acquainted with the terms of aerodynamics, main parts of aircraft and their functions. The other task is to practise 4 main language skills in common English, based on the gained knowledge of grammar and vocabulary.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
Requirements for obtaining the course-unit credit:
Active participation in the course. Written credit test.
If a student does not fulfil the requirements for obtaining the course-unit credit, the teacher may (in justifiable cases) state some compensatory tasks.
Aims
The aim is to make the students familiar with the basic terminology of air traffic, air traffic control and aircraft to such an extent that enables them to apply their knowledge in practice. Another task is to enrich their knowledge and improve their ability of communication in common English.
Knowledge about parts of aircraft, engine, equipment, navigation and flight instruments, flight manoeuvres, meteorology, aerodromes, and air traffic control. Acquaintance with different language structures used only in aviation.

3. Navigation, co-ordinates
4. Confirming and disconfirming
5. Technology – Datalink, expressing purpose
6. Flight control systems, instruments (the basic six)
7. Security measures, expressing necessity
8. Bird strike, saying intentions
9. Ultralight – explaining how something works
10. Air race, aerobatics, units of measurement
11. Hydraulic loss – expressing difficulty and offering help
12. Medical emergencies – expressing cause and effect
