Course detail
Theory And Construction of Machine-tools
FSI-9TSO Acad. year: 2025/2026 Both semester
Subject is intended for students doctoral studies that the no pass subjects type Design of production machines I, II and III. It develops the necessary system knowledge in this field and seeks interdisciplinary synergies such as construction and mechanical engineering, or mechanical and electrical engineering.
Language of instruction

Supervisor
Entry knowledge
The expected knowledge is from the field of machine parts and machine mechanisms as well as from the field of basic principles for building of production machines. The student should be orientated in the field of metal cutting technology.
Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
Oral examination.
At the beginning of the study the student is assigned a multidisciplinary issue in the field of design of CNC machine tools to solve. Student's solution is included in the joint assessment.
Teaching is provided individually according to the agreement with the student and is optional.
Aims
The task is to show modern solutions of CNC machine tools and to point out the limit possibilities of these machines in terms of accuracy, performance and service life. Another goal is for the student to acquire a system approach in designing a CNC machine tool. The possibilities of interdisciplinary solutions in the construction of the main groups of CNC machine tools will also be shown.
Students taking part in this course obtain knowledge about the basic assembly groups in design of CNC machines tools. They will also be able to apply a system approach to their design. They will get an overview of the possibilities of interconnecting branches in the construction of CNC machine tools.
