Design of Vacuum Equipments for Advanced Technologies
FSI-TKV Acad. year: 2025/2026 Winter semester
The course focuses on the fundamentals of vacuum and ultra vacuum component design, technical drawing, 3D modelling in CAD and 2D documentation. Students will gain an understanding of the design and operation of machinery, including the calculation of linkages, gears and mechanisms, with an emphasis on applications in vacuum technology. The course covers the design of atomic, ion and electron sources and equipment for deposition processes (CVD, PVD). It also covers advanced manufacturing technologies such as welding and 3D printing. The aim is to combine theoretical principles with practical skills for the design and manufacture of equipment in vacuum technologies.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
In order to obtain credit, the student must prepare design and construction documentation of selected components and work out the basic technological procedure of their production.
Teaching in exercises is evaluated on the basis of the final report.
Aims
To prepare students for the design and implementation of equipment used in vacuum technology, from basic components to more complex systems. Emphasis is placed on combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills that meet modern industrial requirements.

Syllabus
1. Technical drawing and modelling:
- Fundamentals of technical drawing.
- Working with CAD software for 3D modelling.
- Creation of 2D drawing documentation.
2. Machine design:
- Connections, gears, couplings and their calculations.
- Applications in vacuum technology.
3: Special construction:
- Design of atomic, ion and electron sources.
- Design of equipment for vacuum deposition (CVD, PVD).
4. Mechanics and motion mechanisms:
- Design and calculation of moving mechanisms.
- Constructions of gears, castings, forgings and stampings.
5. Modern manufacturing technologies:
- Electron beam welding technology.
- The use of 3D printing in the manufacture of vacuum components.

Practical exercises in the form of a project:
- Basics of technical drawing.
- Working with CAD software for 3D modelling.
