Original title in Czech: Kvalita, spolehlivost a bezpečnostFSIAbbreviation: M-KSBAcad. year: 2020/2021
Programme: Mechanical Engineering
Length of Study: 2 years
Accredited from: 1.9.2012Accredited until: 31.12.2024
Profile
The „Quality, Reliability and Safety“ discipline is mainly intended for the students who graduated as bachelors within the „Mechanical Engineering“ Study Programme at Brno University of Technology and/or other similar study disciplines in the Czech Republic and abroad. The study of quality, reliability and safety is characterized as an interdisciplinary study:
In the field of quality the students will be familiarized with project management, integrated management systems, process quality management and low-quality cost control. Additionally, the students will gain knowledge in the field of experiment planning, European law, technical-legal issues, metrology and measuring technology.
In the field of reliability teaching is focused on theoretical and practical reliability, diagnostics, diagnostic methods and systems, maintenance and maintenance and reliability management.
In the field of safety teaching is concentrated on risk and safety management, advanced risk management methods and functional safety of technical systems.
The students can specialize in this discipline in one of three above mentioned branches by selecting compulsory selectable subjects and namely by the topic of their thesis. The Institute of Production Machines, Systems and Robotics supports the theses which are focused on industrial topics
Key learning outcomes
The Quality, Reliability and Safety discipline provides the students with knowledge and skills which are focused on the issues of quality, reliability and safety, metrology, reliability, diagnostics, maintenance and safety of technical systems in different industrial areas. Both all over the world and in the Czech Republic, there is a permanent and noticeable lack of experts with appropriate education who are able to solve difficult tasks in industrial and social practice. The graduates will be able to introduce into practice the newest approach in a given discipline at a high professional level, which can remarkably strengthen the position of the company in the competitive environment. The study programme concept can offer the students the sufficient competence in cooperation with national and international developmental scientific research teams.
Occupational profiles of graduates with examples
The master study graduates have a wide choice of job chances. They can work as quality engineering managers (quality engineer), reliability engineering managers (reliability manager), diagnostic manager (operating diagnostic engineer, diagnostic analyst, design engineer of diagnostic system), maintenance manager (maintenance engineer) and safety manager (safety engineer, internal/external auditor of safety management system in industrial enterprises and companies, insurance companies, regulatory bodies, in integrated rescue systems, etc.). The graduates in this discipline can also find their jobs in the field of science, research, designing companies, etc.
The Institute of Production Machines, Systems and Robotics provides the study in the „Machine and Facilities“ discipline within the doctor study programme of design and process engineering where the students can concentrate their effort on scientific research problems in the field of quality, reliability and safety, and they graduate as Ph.D.
