The Department of Process Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Brno University of Technology, focuses on thermal energy accumulation as one of its research topics. Researchers explore the accumulation of sensible heat, latent heat, and heat absorption through chemical processes, as well as changes in enthalpy related to modifications in the crystalline structure of chemical substances. The team also engages in modeling the importance of heat accumulation in district heating systems and the storage of electricity within cogeneration systems. The goal is to develop a computational model. Long-term thermal energy storage solutions are a priority for the department.
