The Institute of Process Engineering (IPE BUT) has long been dedicated to the issue of waste transport (and secondary raw materials). In addition to the contribution of transport to greenhouse gas emissions, it is also crucial from the point of view of investment and operating costs. A proper logistics chain can affect the economics of waste management facilities. A unique NERUDA logistics network tool has been created at the workplace to analyze the optimal allocation of processing capacities. At the same time, technical and economic models of road and rail transport are being developed independently. The institute is also firm in waste collection planning at the level of individual municipalities (Popelka tool). Popelka is a product that has considerable commercial potential. The goal is to develop individual models further and apply them commercially.
