Our areas of expertise
We have leading-edge know-how in the field of industrial wastewater treatment. Our goal is to maximize the recovery of treated water in the industrial process and also to obtain secondary raw materials with commercial potential. We take a comprehensive approach to technology design and also address energy integration and the economic aspects of operation – in this we consider ourselves a unique facility. We have experience with specific applications in a wide variety of plants (biogas production, food processing, automotive, plastics production, etc.). We use advanced process simulators for design. This enables us to quickly design the technology and then verify it in the laboratory. The laboratory is designed as a complete process line from pre-treatment to final concentration of wastewater on an industrial scale.
Our achievements so far
-
The treatment of wastewater from biogas plants:
We have been instrumental in the development and testing of a pilot unit to reduce the volume of wastewater from biogas plants. This saves especially transport costs for further wastewater treatment, but also the volume of storage tanks. -
Water recycling in wine production:
In our laboratory, we have validated the concept of a technology that produces clean water, ethanol concentrate and sludge suitable for biogas plants from the wastewater produced in wineries. We are currently working on the construction of a pilot unit directly at the winery. -
Expansion cooling of thermo-mineral water:
We have tested a unit that cools heavily mineralised water from 70 to 35 °C in a pilot plant. Cooling these waters with conventional heat exchangers is problematic due to the high level of fouling of the heat transfer surfaces that highly mineralised waters cause.
Laboratory:
We have a Laboratory with industrial scale experimental units. The lab has a versatile infrastructure with the ability to connect a wide range of equipment, various types of evaporators including crystallization, stripping column, membrane stand, gas-fired steam generator, microturbine and an advanced data acquisition system.
