The existence of the state-of-the-art CEITEC Nano infrastructure together with other well-equipped laboratories of the Institute of Physical Engineering of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has enabled the research team to focus primarily on the fields of nanoelectronics and nanophotonics. Specifically, the research is focused on the investigation of the principles of interaction of electromagnetic radiation and electron beams with nanostructures and advanced materials for their application in the field of nanophotonics and quantum technologies.
The team investigates and develops, in particular, plasmonic antennas and optical resonators, plasmon-enhanced Raman spectroscopy/photoluminescence, near-field cathodoluminescence, plasmon-enhanced THz-EPR/Brillouin scattering, dielectric optical metasurfaces, strong coupling in plasmonics and the use of nanophotonics in quantum technologies (single-photon sources, control of photon propagation using optical metasurfaces, etc.).
The aim of the research team is to achieve competitiveness on a global scale and become an attractive partner for cooperation with leading teams in this field. The team can boast cooperation with experts from leading foreign and domestic academic institutions, as well as with high-tech companies operating in the field (MEOPTA, CRYTUR, Thermo Fischer Scientific, Tescan, NenoVision). The team achieves excellent and internationally respected results – with articles published in top journals (Nature Materials, Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Communications, ACS Nano, Nanoletters, Phys. Rev. Letters, ACS Photonics) as well as valuable application outputs with high TRL (UHV SEM/SPM, SPM, electron beam lithography, effusive cells,.....).
