Original abstract

We discuss a trade-off between losses and nonlinearity levels required for the switching operation in Kerr-nonlinear nanophotonic and nanoplasmonic directional couplers. We also consider some geometrical and material modifications with the aim of improving the nonlinear characteristics.

Czech abstract

Diskutujeme základní kompromis mezi ztrátami a prahovými úrovněmi nelinearity potřebnými ke spínání v nanofotonických a nanoplazmonických vazebních členech s Kerrovou nelinearitou. Uvažujeme také možné geometrické a materiálové modifikace daných struktur s cílem zlepšit nelineární charakteristiky.

English abstract
