Original abstract

Gasification is a thermochemical process in which solid fuel is transformed into flammable gas, and this gas is subsequently used in power plants for the production of electrical and thermal energy. However, the enduse of gas is limited by the impurities by which the generated gas is contaminated. The limits of these impurities are very strict and the requirements of the individual manufacturers vary. The article deals with methods of tar elimination from gas obtained by gasification of wood biomass. A whole range of methods of cleaning gas from unintentional impurities exists, differing not only in basic principles but also in efficiency and installation and operation requirements. This article compares the wet scrubbing method and method using natural or metallic catalysts. The main contribution of the article is the comparison of all methods on one device – BIOFLUID 2 – under real operating conditions. During the implementation of experiments, the operating conditions were set for each method – when the method was working with the highest efficiency.
