Original abstract

Design and technological development of cutting tools represents a fluent process that combines new knowledge from all usable technical branches with actual needs and development results of component base, production technology and machine tools. The main factors which nowadays accelerate the development of cutting tools are constantly increasing demands to improve efficiency and productivity while reducing operation costs, the appli-cation of hard machinable materials, environmental protection issues, health and growing demands for greater safety.

Konstrukční a technologický vývoj řezných nástrojů představuje plynulý proces, který spojuje nové poznatky ze všech využitelných technických oborů s aktuálními požadavky i výsledky vývoje součástkové základny, výrobních technologií a obráběcích strojů. Hlavními faktory, které dnes urychlují vývoj řezných nástrojů, jsou zejména neustále rostoucí nároky na zvyšování efektivnosti a produktivity výroby, při současném snižování provozních nákladů, aplikaci těžkoobrobitelných materiálů, problematiky ochrany životního prostředí, zdraví a rostoucích požadavků na vyšší bezpečnost práce.
