Original abstract
This paper summarizes the results of the experimental study of elastohydrodynamic lubrication of point contacts obtained with a help of a newly developed colorimetric interferometry technique. This technique based on a combination of chromatic interferometry and computer differential colorimetry allows the accurate, quick and automatic mapping of lubricant film thickness distribution in EHD contacts within the film thickness range from 1 to 800 nm with film thickness resolution approx. 1 nm and measurement accuracy 3 nm. The efficiency of this technique has been tested through the observation of EHD film shapes under pure rolling and pure sliding conditions.
