Original abstract

Near-threshold fatigue crack propagation under mixed-mode II+III in the ARMCO iron was evaluated using selected equivalent K-factors normalized to 1 when approaching the mixed-mode threshold. The aim was to find a suitable description of the mixed-mode crack propagation observed in cylindrical bars with circumferential cracked notch loaded in pure shear. The results revealed that the mode II is more efficient than the mode III.
