FSI-0A6 Acad. year: 2021/2022 Summer semester
The 0A6 course 0A6 is a follow-up to 0A5 in the winter semester and targets students before they take the compulsory B1 exam (GEN3 or 7AZ) who need to develop their general English at the B1+ level of CEFR and extend it with academic language. It can also be selected by students who finished courses A5, A6 and need the general language course to fix their knowledge.

Learning outcomes of the course unit
After passing this course (and the follow-up course 0A6) students should be able to communicate in English independently at B1+ level.
Prerequisites
The minimum entry requirement is the knowledge of A2+ grammar and vocabulary.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
This is a general English course to extend basic professional curriculum.
The goal of the course is to develop communicative skills that allow an individual to communicate in the English language. Primarily listening and speaking are practiced.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
Final evaluation covers the student’s work in the exercises and the knowledge tested by a credit test and examination. The examination oral and the B1 level of CEFR.
Aims
The aim of the course it to enhance individual abilities of students to express themselves in English at the B1+ level in general and academic contexts. The previously gained knowledge of grammar and vocabulary will be revised and systematically expanded with academic vocabulary.
Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
Attendance is compulsory and is checked on a regular basis. Students are allowed to miss two seminars. In well-founded cases, extra absences can be made up for after consulting the situation with the teacher.
