The Special Desing and Applications of Mobile Robots

FSI-9KAR Acad. year: 2022/2023 Summer semester

The subject is aimed at PhD students who are focusing on the study, the development, the research, the projection and the construction or the laboratory prototype production of Mobile Robots (MR). There is shown an overview of MR which are currently developing as well as the MR in common use. The overview will refer to the robots on land (walking, jumping, wheeled, tracked and hybrid MR) in the sea and air. There are not left out the MR for exploration of planet surfaces and for using in cosmic space.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The acquired knowledge and the skills can be drawn on for the solution of the current demands for highly-purpose automation means which are the Mobile Robots in general.

Prerequisites

Candidates should be familiarized with the problems of the construction of MR at engineering level.

Co-requisites

No.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. In the case of measures to prevent the spread of the infectious disease COVID-19, the necessary on-line participation.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

There is necessary to work out an assigned semestral project and defend the work in an oral examination.

Work placements

Are not organized.

Aims

The aim of the subject is to inform about the general information from the scientific discipline called robotics and the presentation of practical results of the projection, the construction, the production and the experimental operations of MR, especially at BUT FME (Brno).

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

It is recommended both the attendance at lectures and the self-study of available literature and magazine and internet sources, as well as consultations with the lecturer. Change in covid-19 containments reserved.
