Project Management

The course introduces students to the basic skills needed in project solving. Within the course, there will be an introduction to fundamental project management methods so that graduates are prepared for practical application. During the instruction, we will cover the basic principles of project solving, provide an overview, and practically experience project planning and management. We will familiarize ourselves with commonly used methods. The knowledge acquired during the course is directly applicable even during studies for better planning and organization of study obligations, in project-based learning, or when carrying out thesis projects.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
Students will be evaluated based on their participation in classes and the completion of a semester project.
Aims
The aim of the course is to prepare students for work in managing or solving projects. Upon completing the subject, students will possess basic competencies required of members of project teams. They will acquire the habits necessary for handling project work, familiarize themselves with fundamental methods and techniques of planning, management, and project resolution.

- Introduction to the course, basic concepts, planning and project management methods, project lifecycle
- Teamwork, creation and management of project teams, project progress reporting, project management tools, work progress monitoring, effective communication
- Project initiation and pre-project phase, SMART goals, analysis and formulation of engineering problems, project charter
- Project scope definition, WBS (Work Breakdown Structure)
- Time planning, work schedule, Critical Path Method (CPM)
- Resource and cost planning for the project, project budget, project plan optimization, Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT)
- Risk management in projects – RIPRAN
- Stakeholders and organizations in projects
